A tourbillon is designed to counterbalance gravity by mounting the escapement and balance in a rotating cage to cancel out the effect of gravity when the timepiece, and therefore the escapement, are stuck in a certain position.

At the 9 o’clock position is the GMT function. By turning the crown counterclockwise, it is possible to set the second time zone to 24h mode.
