The most famous Soviet watch of the 50ies
The name “Pobeda” is translated as victory. After the Second World War the first watch was produced. Stalin had the idea in 1945 to celebrate the first anniversary with it. The first watch was to go to the conveyors in 1946. The Kirov Clock Factory (later known as the first Moscow clock factory) fulfilled this task and in March 1946 produced such a clock with the glorious name “Pobeda”.
The movement of the clock – 2602 was produced as a replica of the then known French clock factory LIP (R-26). It has got no shock protection; instead, the hairspring has got a Breguet end curve, which is almost sensational for this Russian watch.
In the 50 – 80s the watch “Pobeda” was very well known in the USSR and had real popular fame. With this watch outstanding working heroes, war and work veterans were praised. A watch with this movement was produced by almost all Soviet watch factories under different names – Poljot, Slava, Vostok, ZIM, Raketa, Lutch. The watch also became popular in the former Eastern Bloc. In 1985, even after an order from the “Committee of the Countries of the Warsaw Pact”, an anniversary watch with this movement was produced for the 40th anniversary of the alliance.
In memory of the most famous Soviet watch but also for the 75th anniversary of the name “Pobeda” a similar watch in the style of the 50s was produced in a vintage version and with a genuine Pobeda movement by the brand “Poljot-International”. Only 250 pieces could be built, because there were no more new movements available on the market. 200 pieces were reserved and firmly bought by the Kampmann Company from Munich in version 1 even before production. Another 20 pieces went immediately to Hungary in version 2. Only 30 models of version 2 are still available and could be pre-reserved at “Poljot-International”.
The design of the watch was adapted as similar as possible to the 50s of the XX century. Of course, the case was made of stainless steel, not brass as in the past. Also the size was chosen a little more modern with a diameter of 38 mm. The original 32 – 35mm case is too small to be worn by men. The glass was left in the original version with acrylic glass. Nevertheless the waterproofness could be brought to 3 ATM, in contrast to the original. The dials were made curved in the style of that time. The “appliqués” were produced with famous Russian rose gold plating and the straps in vintage style were made of soft cowhide.
It would be possible to order both versions with the numbers 01 to 30. But only 30 pieces are available. This series was limited to 50 pieces in total. The delivery is expected from mid-June to mid-July, but it is possible to pre-order immediately
