KIROVSKIE, Hand winding
In a war time story it is said that the «Kirov»-watch was created at Stalin’s command. When he learned that the officers of his Red Army did not own any comfortable wrist watches, he summoned representatives of the “Kirov” watch factory and ordered the development of such a watch by the next morning. Thus, in only one night the factory’s engineers managed to remake the commonly found pocket watch model into a wrist watch, thereby completing the officers’ outfit.
In 2000, “Poljot-International” recreated this historical watch by producing a replica. The dial colouring, the letters and the inscription on the dial: “1st GCHZ” (“First State Watch Manufacturer”) are identical to that of the original. The unique band fixation and the increased coating of the hands for enhanced luminosity were equally maintained.
