||Poljot-International and Basilika watches are high-quality
mechanical timepieces with:
- Precisely regulated and refined movements
- Vaulted mineral or
sapphire crystal glass
- High grade stainless steel or gold cases
with glass back
- Water resistant to as minimum of 5 ATM (50 meters)
functions on most models
All Poljot-International and Basilika watches (PI & B) are
produced in Alzenau, Germany. A booklet showing a test trial run
and signature of the watchmaker who has assembled the watch is
supplied with each shipment, assuring you of the highest standard
in our quality control.
The service is carried out by highly experienced personnel with
special knowledge of Russian and Swiss mechanical watches.
Every watch received in our workshop for repair is first checked
by a watchmaker before that an estimate is prepared. Once a confirmation
is received by the customer the watch will be repaired (normally
within 10 working days) and later returned to the customer.
All our watches are supplied with a 24 months warranty. Repairs
warranty are made immediately after the first arrival check.
All customers are entitled to get after-sales service with efficient supply
spare parts and information on repair or replacement parts.
We have service-points all over the world. For details please

Frequently asked questions:
- What is the difference between a normal watch and a chronograph?
A chronograph is a complicated mechanical timekeeper unifying two
functions within one watch, a normal function for telling the time
and a stop watch. The stop watch can be started and stopped by pressing
the pushers on the case’s side. The upper pusher is for starting
and stopping the chronograph function while the lower one is for
resetting the hands back to zero. The work of the stop watch is indicated
by the central seconds hand and the minute counter scale in the small
- What is the quick date setting?
For many Russian watches the so-called “quick date setting” is
used in order to set or change the date. It works by moving the
hands first clockwise and then anti-clockwise between 23:00 hours p.m.
and 3:00 hours a.m. and continue the same operation until the desired
date is displayed.
- Which are the accuracy deviations of Poljot-International
and Basilika watches?
As all Poljot-International and Basilika watches
undergo an individual adjustment and regulation their accuracy deviation
is lower than
most standard mechanical watches. The deviation ranges between
the limits of –15 s until +15 s per day.
- What can I measure with
help of the tachometer scale of chronographs or pilots’ watches?
establish the speed of a vehicle or aircraft, first use the seconds
hand in the stopwatch to determine the time in seconds needed
to cover 1 kilometre of the route (e.g. 10 s or 45 s). The speed
be read on the tachometer scale opposite the corresponding
marking on the second scale (accordingly 352 or 80 km/h). If the
for one kilometre is more than 60 seconds, divide 3.600 by
the number of seconds. For example, 3.600 /90s = 40 km/h or 3.600/120s
- How can I set a moon-phase function?
The setting of the moon-phases
has to be done always before the setting of the date or the time. The
crown has to be in it’s
furthest position and the moon has to be moved by turning the hands
in a clockwise direction so long until the moon has reached the position
one day to its present-day-position in accordance with the moon-calendar
(the moon changes its position automatically between 2 and 3 o’clock
a.m.). Only after this, the date and the time can be set.
- What about
the water resistance?
Can I take a shower or swim with my
PI or B watch on while it is on my wrist? Most of our watches have
a water-resistance of 3-5 ATM.
This means, they are protected against rain water or sweat,
but the watches are not appropriated for swimming or taking showers,
the water pressure can be too high for the seals.
On the other hand, it can happen that under the watch glass appears
condensation water, especially after abrupt changes in temperature
- this is not a defect, the condensation water will disappear after
a while. It is absolutely necessary once 1 year to have the water
resistance checked by a specialist.
Within the PI brand collection, there models that are suitable
for diving watches such as f.e. “Red October” with
20 and 30 ATM water resistance respectively. These models
have an additional
protection cap over the crown and can be used for swimming and diving.
is a sapphire crystal glass?
This glass consists of synthetic
sapphire crystals (Al2O3) being extremely hard (surpassed only by diamond);
it is even more breakproof
than mineral glass and very scratch-resistant; the production
(especially of vaulted glass) is very expensive, that’s why this
glass is mainly used for luxury watches. The top of the range models
PI and B are fitted with sapphire crystal glass.
- How often does
a mechanical watch need a service?
Of course it is necessary to make
a repair or an overhaul when the watch does not work fluently.
If the watch was handled with care, a total overhaul will be necessary
not before 3 years of wearing.
However, for keeping up the water-resistance and the functionality
of the crown, it is necessary to repair or to have
it checked by a watchmaker not less than every 12 months if the watch
was is worn
- What means an overhaul in contrast to a partial repair?
repair includes for example:
- Replacement of the glass (if there are no splinters in the inner
part of the movement),
- Adjustment of the
accuracy (after an impact or shock),
- Replacement of the crown/the
pushers or another part of the movement.
A total overhaul has to be
made after 3-5 years and includes the following steps
- Outer checking
of the case, the dial and the hands
- Measurement of accuracy and
amplitude on the device
- Test of water-resistance
- Before the case will be opened, it is cleaned
for avoiding dust to get into the movement
- After the case was opened,
the inner part is cleaned, too, and the condition
of the grease is checked
this, the movement is taken apart, all parts are cleaned and
lubricated, the gaskets and seals
- After the
assembling and closure of the case, a trial run is made
during 3 days
with the watch in different
positions (the watch remained
lying and hanging at the cyclowinder).
